Sanofi is a global pharmaceutical company committed to improving access to healthcare and supporting the patients we serve throughout the continuum of care. The Sanofi iDEA-TECH Awards initiative is designed to innovate through collaborations, with a focus on cutting-edge digital and data tools and new technologies for R&D applications. Sanofi’s main objectives in creating the iDEA-TECH Awards program are to rapidly start one-year projects that maximize the opportunity for continued collaborations of mutual interest. The goal is to:
- Develop new approaches and translational technologies from key academic institutions and start-ups
- De-risk cutting-edge science and technologies that can bring high potential value to R&D
- Build strong relationships with new partners that can lead to longer-term partnerships

Please see the "Call for Pre-proposals" and Word template for submissions (title "Scope of the Call") under the "Additional Resources" section. This Word template serves as your pre-proposal application. Further details can be found under the "Requirements" section. This is confidential and not to be shared outside of Stanford University.
Award Information:
Each selected Investigator will receive up to $150K USD total costs, have a dedicated Sanofi scientific expert assigned to the project for 1-year and gain privileged access to developing an extended collaboration. Indirect costs, at the full Stanford negotiated rate, are included in the award value specified.

Internal deadline for pre-proposals to Stanford Medicine Industry Relations (SM-IR): December 6, 2023
Notification for which pre-proposals have been selected for detailed proposals: January 31, 2024
Internal deadline for RPM/RMG: February 28, 2024
Deadline for detailed proposals to SM-IR: March 6, 2024
Awards notified: May 30, 2024
Start of projects: October 2024
Stanford faculty with PI eligibility and CE faculty (with an approved CE faculty PI waiver). CE applicants must obtain an approved CE faculty PI waiver through their Research Process Manager (RPM) before the internal deadline
Ideas must be submitted using the provided Pre-proposal template and sent to the Stanford Medicine - Industry Relations (SM-IR) Team (nrmalek@stanford.edu) by December 6th, 2023. They will work with the Tech Transfer Office (TTO) or business office to make sure that your proposal is aligned with the scope and fulfills the application criteria of the call. Pre-proposals that are not validated by your institution TTO (for academic PIs) or do not fit with the guidelines (format, timeline, etc.) will not be evaluated. Please note that pre-proposals must not contain any confidential information or unpublished results and cannot include 3rd party collaborators other than those involved in the iDEA-TECH Awards initiative. Once aligned upon, the SM-IR Team will ensure the pre-proposals are submitted through the iDEA-TECH portal link by December 15th, 2023
There should be NO confidential information disclosed in the pre-proposals.
Institutional representative: you do not need to submit pre-proposals through RMG or OSR for institutional approval; you may submit your pre-proposal directly to SM-IR per the instructions above. If invited to submit a full proposal, please initiate your Proposal Intake Form (PIF) at your earliest convenience. Final proposal submission will require institutional approval prior to submission.

The funds can be used for FTE, supplies, equipment, data, services, etc. Along with funding, Sanofi R&D expertise and guidance will also be provided.
