The Center for Precision Health and Integrated Diagnostics (PHIND), is soliciting new Pilot Projects from new or established investigators. The vision of PHIND is to bring together researchers from various disciplines to form synergistic teams that will make significant advances in developing 1) data analytics for risk assessment, 2) biomarkers for the transition from health to disease, and 3) wearable/home monitoring devices or related PHIND areas.
Program priorities
Fundamental studies on the biology of disease initiation/progression to understand the earliest transitions from healthy humans, organs and cells to the diseased state
Biomarker research to study the molecules that indicate healthy states and early signs of disease
Diagnostic technology and information to accurately monitor and detect health changes early, such as collecting and analyzing information from multiple sources on the body and/or in the home, office or wider community
Health economic analyses for precision health strategies to demonstrate value added to the health care system for pursing various precision health efforts
The focus of PHIND is on precision health not medicine, thus therapeutics or experimental drugs, are not suitable for this solicitation. For clarification, please see: http://med.stanford.edu//content/dam/sm/phind/documents/seed-grants/precision-health-vs-medicine.pdf
Eligibility:
A minimum of two investigators from different disciplines with PI Eligibility (i.e., those with UTL, MCL, NTL-Research, and CE appointments) at Stanford must be included to apply. All applications, regardless of their past or present relationship to the Stanford PHIND program, will undergo the same level of scrutiny before being identified as an appropriate Pilot Project.
Requirements:
Funding is contingent upon the timely receipt of all required documents and verification of approved protocols. Interim and yearly progress reports in NIH format will also be due to Ryan Spitler. Due dates will be provided upon selection of awardees. Attendance at regular PHIND meetings is required at which time awardees will also be expected to intermittently present their progress. In addition, a final project presentation will be required sometime within the 2022-2024 period.
Amount

How can the funds be used?
$200K in total direct costs. No indirect costs provided.
